First Homesteaders' Map - ask your reeve about it!

Many Saskatchewan residents are familiar with our 2005 historic homestead maps. The R.M. of Waverley, having finished a historical land title project under their own initiative, recently approached me about the prospect of creating something even more interesting.

Using municipal records, I was commissioned to design a comprehensive historical map of the R.M., combining first homesteaders' title with the local history book's record of historic schools, post offices, churches, cemeteries, peaks, and points of interest.

The result is a true legacy project and I could not be any happier to see how well-received it has been in the community. My only regret: I had to put my foot right into a long-simmering local argument about whose property contains the highest point in the municipality.
